depression
Depression is an incredibly complex condition that is not wholly understood even today.
Even the most popular theories on the underlying cause of the condition are still just theories, and success of treatment varies greatly between individuals.

It is a condition, that even though incredibly common, makes its sufferers feel terribly alone and feel incredibly helpless.
But you are not alone and you are not helpless.
​

Many people suffer from what is known as reactive depression. This is an emotional response to outside environmental stimulus or cause or internal self-talk.

This response can become a habitual negative outlook to outside factors as well as to your own internal thoughts.
​
This is fueled further by underlying or newly formed negative beliefs and self-images.
Negative thought patterns then begin to form a cycle and eventually overtake positive patterns.
​
But what if you didn't automatically respond to things with negativity or hopelessness?
What if you were able to view things positively, as you do on good days, or were able to do before the depression?
​
Modern Psychology uses tools to break this reactive cycle and create and ingrain a new set of emotional responses and coping mechanisms in your daily life.
​
Together we work to reprogram limiting beliefs and change your perspectives, thoughts, moods and behaviours and form positive thought patterns and habits.
​
It must also be noted that often to get change you must change. This is very true if you are someone who is creating an environment that fuels you depression through factors such as poor diet, lack of exercise or drug/alcohol use.
If this is the case no amount of external help will be able to truly shift your mood without these factors being addressed. This is something we can identify and work towards during our sessions if required.

** It is important to note that this form of therapy does not seek to replace your treatment with Doctors, medications, Psychologists or other health professionals and will work best when in conjunction with these interventions.
** Hypnotherapy can only be applied by licensed medical professional for anyone suffering from psychosis or taking anti-psychotic medications.
